Typical types of finance products on offer…

PCP

This method allows the Consumer to defer a large percentage of the car purchase to the end of the agreement. Often referred to as a ‘balloon payment’ or ‘guaranteed final value’, these products are great when a monthly instalment is important to you. However, they can be very expensive and even with a low finance APR, the hidden costs are often not properly explained to the Consumer. If like most people you are used to changing your car every couple of years, these products can often see you build up huge amounts of negative equity that is carried forward to the next purchase. Many Consumers end up with a huge debt and a car worth much less leading to financial stress.

Hire Purchase

A straight-edged repayment product that means you know how much you will pay for 2,3,4 or 5 years, after which the vehicle is yours. Very often the cheapest way overall to fund your purchase, but possibly with higher monthly payments overall.

Contract Hire

Don’t need ‘Ownership’? If ‘Usership’ is your main objective, then this is a great way to have the use of the car for a fixed period and mileage, and then at the end of the agreed term you simply hand the car back and choose another one. Ideal for people who want a fixed-cost fixed-term experience without the worry of fluctuating car values leading to potential negative equity at the point you change the car.
